Fabian Cancellara’s victorious Tour of Flanders 2010 – SRM Training System Output

You might remember the victory of Fabian Cancellara in the Tour of Flanders cycling spring classic earlier this year. Furthermore Fabian Cancellara, with the nickname Spartacus, has a well known reputation as time trail expert specialist.

The majority of professional cyclists ride with the SRM Training System – PowerMeter + PowerControl, but seldom any if this (biometric) data is publicly shared. Have a look at the impressive numbers of a professional athlete like Fabian Cancellara:

  • Average power output: 285 W
  • Average heart rate:  143 pm
  • Average cadence:  73 rpm
  • Time of the race:  6:22 hr
  • Maximum power output:  1450 W
  • Maximum heart rate:  190 pm
  • Maximum speed:  80 km/h
  • Used calories:  6459 kJ

Hobby cyclists like myself can only dream of these power output numbers, and if you are interested in training methods these numbers are certainly interesting !
